2026 October Series

We're back and ready to share a new batch of October cinema experiences on Thursdays at the Grand Theatres. All shows are at 3:00 and 6:00. Arrive early. We don't show trailers.

Oct 1 - Mr. Nobody Against Putin

Horrified by how his beloved school and community were being transformed into a staging ground for nationalism, militarization, and the recruitment of students, Talankin secretly used his position to document the reality of the regime's indoctrination.

Oct 8 - Remake

A deeply personal, heartbreaking film about the life and tragic death of his son, Adrian, interwoven with an ill-fated Hollywood attempt to fictionalize McElwee's 1986 masterpiece, Sherman's March.

Oct 15 - Blue Heron

Follows a Hungarian immigrant family of six who relocate to Vancouver Island in the late 1990s. The story is told primarily through the perspective of 8-year-old Sasha as her parents struggle to help her troubled older half-brother, Jeremy, whose erratic and dangerous behavior slowly fractures the household.

Oct 22 - The Christophers

A low-key, witty black comedy about an aging, reclusive artist whose greedy children hire a young art restorer and former forger to secretly finish his long-abandoned masterworks so they can cash in on a massive inheritance.

Oct 29 - No Other Choice

A devoted paper mill manager named Yoo Man-su loses his job after 25 years. Facing prolonged unemployment and the erosion of his middle-class life, he spirals into desperation and enacts a shocking plan to eliminate his job market competitors one by one.
